Setup PS3 via HDMI to Yamaha RX-V3800 (Full HD receiver)

Can anyone help?

I currently have my PS3 BD/DVD Audio settings at LPCM and so i see PCM on my receiver's lcd display. I have two questions:

1. Why when i play the bu-ray version of X-Men 3 (DTS-HD MA 6.1) does my receiver display 5.1 PCM on it's lcd display (i have a 6.1 setup)?

2. What HD audio formats can the PS3 send via bitstream to allow receivers to be able to use their own onboard decoders and hence display them on their own lcd screens?

1. Not sure, check out this to make sure PS3 settings are correct (thanks to Mr E as I stole this from another thread he answered!).

2. My understanding is it can't bitstream any of the new HD formats, only the older Dolby Digital and DTS formats via the optical cable. This shouldn't be a concern for you though as (a) it doesn't really make any difference and (b) from what I've heard, any profile 1.1 discs and above, the decoding has to be done by the player, so bitstreaming the sound will not be an option on these discs.
