Seem to recall queries and debate about whether WHSV would be doing a group test in the near future. Are there any plans afoot, or is it proving difficult to set up (a test with decent sized screens with different fixing methods would be quite cumbersome to set up I would imagine).

Apologies if I have missed the answer somewhere.

Nudge.

A 'No, its too hard' , 'it's on the list' or even 'there is little difference in PQ between manufacturers' would be useful.

It is quite difficult to audition or borrow them to try out first, so some expert opinion would be welcome.

try the grandview cyberscreens as a good starting point - in my opinion the best i have seen for a quality manual pull down screen and not a brand i had ever heard of was recommended to me by sevenoaks when i bought my sub

For what it's worth, I spent best part of a year using various screens and finally settled on a GrandView.
Amazingly bright picture and a very unique mounting solution.
They may not be so very well known in the UK yet, but in Europe it's the Rolls Royce of screens.
Beautifuly engineered piece of kit.

At the risk of sounding obvious, choosing a good quality screen is paramount in obtaining a clean, bright picture and prepare to spend hours adjusting the projector settings to get the correct white balance.

Plasma and LCD big screens are great, but nothing beats a good projection system for the ultimate cinema experience.
Try watching the 3D BluRay of Coraline on a well calibrated screen and after a few minutes you are literally drawn into the movie.

Talking of which, my ultimate experience has to be The Dark Knight in the Printworks IMAX in Manchester, that was trippy!

Thanks Matengawhat and Tonya - a friend has a Grandview (electric) screen serving the same model PJ as I have. The picture is definitely better than on my cheaper screen, but I was hoping to gauge opinion before probably opting for a Grandview.
