Have i got a faulty plug? surely this is a fire hazard so im unplugging it when not in use, should i be contacting the seller for a replacement plug?

If you're talking about the mains plug, it could be that the cable has been pulled loose inside. In which case, do not use the turntable until you are sure. If it's not a molded plug, just open it up (when not plugged in!) and make sure the cables are wired in correctly and tightly. If it is a molded plug, you'd have to cut off the plug and fit a new one...

Dont think you can open it up, its not so hot that you cant keep your hand on it but it warms ya hand up if ya get me. Just spoke to the bloke at richer sounds and he reckons they all run hot and it shouldnt be anything to worry about but its the only plug i have that is hot, if i want i can run it down to them and they can take a look but it means a 40mile drive to brighton so just wondered if i was worryed about nothing.

It must of been like it for weeks as i only noticed it the other night because i came in late and it was really quiet and i heard the humming noise and found it to be coming from the plug.

The instructions refer to a 16V/500mA AC outboard power supply that plugs into the wall.

They typically run quite hot. (And yes they can hum because they are transformers.)

I thought you meant a simple mains plug rather than a power supply.

Looks like this?

DO NOT OPEN IT!

yeah thats the badboy, the actual powe supply for the turntable, so its normal for it to be hot and humb? none of my other plugs seem to do this..

It can hum because it contains a transformer and is a step-down device (your's is AC - AC rather than the usual AC - DC).

If it is comfortable to hold/touch then you should be fine. Make sure it has a little space around it for ventilation. (Don't 'bury' it away under stuff.)

Switch it off at the wall when not being used. It will save you both electricity and worry.

Yeah you can hold it ok and it doesnt get uncomfotable, it must of been like it for a couple of weeks b4 i noticed it, its well ventilated aswell, i think i should be ok then 🙂 just didnt want to pack it all up and go on a wasted journey back to the shop.

Yes, as chubby says, those small transformers do get warm and hum often. Phew, I thought it was a straight mains plug, which would have been a wholes other thing...

It,s normal, the wall wart on my 6.1 Sb is the same and the Expression i had before.

Same with the Tube Box, unplug when not in use.
