I have the above player, and for over 4 years It has offered no problems .

Over the last month I have had a few problems with certain discs .The discs when tried on other DVD players

are OK .

With the Transporter 3,at the same place on two disc the image would become distorted. When played on another machine, perfect .

The same with the box set of Star Fleet.disc 1,2&3 all played fine.Disc 4 at the same point each time caused the Pionner to stop, but played OK om other players.

So is it the Pionner of could it be the discs?

Thanks

ps,sorry, the Pionner is connect to my PAN LCD via an exos SCART.MY PAN DMR-EZ27 is connected via HDMI outputting an 1080P image, which one is producing the best image

Probably both, i.e. it is unlikely that you can "fix" the Pioneer to play those discs.

This won't be any comfort to you, but my Pioneer DVD player started to exhibit the same things after about 7 years. At first, I thought some of my discs were scratched (even though I do, of course, treat them very carefully). After a couple of weeks it wouldn't display a picture at all.

I don't know if it's the laser that failed? I know they don't last forever, so assume it did.

As my player was an imported USA model, it was cheaper to buy a new one than try to get it repaired (can't believe how much the Pioneer cost me at the time ...)

You may find it cheaper/easier to get yours fixed, although it may be better to get a new one.
