Hi Andrew, Clare & all,

Need your advice. This is the second time I have lost the display on my Denon 2809 receiver. Now I get no sound although the receiver switches on and dont see anything on display either. I am driving Dynaudio Excite X32 speakers with one center speaker from the Excite range. No subwoofer and surround speakers. I have set the Denon to 7.1 surround sound option. The sound that I got when it worked was superb. But am disappointed by the reliability of this equipment. This was bought about 6 months ago. Any advice if anyone faced the same issue before ? Is it better to return and change it for Denon 1911 maybe ?

Thanks,

Neeraj

Maybe it is time you changed to an Onkyo or Yamaha instead.

Is it my imagination or do we get more queries about Denon amps that any other make?

I'm on my second Yamaha and have never had a single problem with either.

I was quite happy with the sound when it worked so am just hoping I got a dud. But if all of you think its either poorly partnered with my speakers or I should avoid Denon generally as a brand then will probably take that advice :(

Seriously, as it appears to be faulty, take it back and demand a refund as it is not fit for purpose. As well as Yamaha or Onkyo you could consider Sony.

one silly new feature that attracted me to Denon 1911 was playing ipod via USB i.e. no docks required. Are there such option in Yamaha or Onkyo or Sony ?

the denon 1909 is awesome, but the yamahas are good as well, i would say that the denon 1911 will be a good move. Plus you will be future proof for a fair while.

Do you really want to take the risk with another Denon? You have paid over a grand for your 2809 and 6 months down the line it has died on you. Think long and hard.
