Problem

After experimenting with my Monitor Audio PL surround setup with the Denon 4308. I quickly came to realise that the Amplifier isnt sending any low frequencies out of the centre channel output.

Testing

I have connected just the centre up to my 2 channel amplifier and the speaker is in full working order. I also connected the centre speaker up to various other speaker terminals on the Denon (FL/FR/Both Surround A) They all produced a full frequency sound.

Solutions

I have played around with all obvious settings, speaker size and even change the EQ for the centre channel for maximum +dB on everything below 500Hz. Still no change. I suspect the centre channel amplifier section within the Denon has a problem. Anyone else have any ideas on this? Urgggggg just before Xmas aswell!! :)

Thx guys

Hi

You have checked the centre channel is turned on or enable in the speakers set up menu. Sometimes the most obvious is the easiest answer

Have you tried a hard reset on the amplifier back to factory settings? Sometimes they can get confused and a simple reset does the trick!

Hi guys, thanks for your help so far. I have just recently put my Front L into the Centre Speaker Output on the Amp. Same problem, sound is emitted (vocals etc) but nothing moves the bass drivers. I have also just done a firmware update, and shall now research how to do a Hard Reset, as Im not quiet sure how to do that yet.

Its strange as the Centre channel is emitting something, just not any low frequencies. (The speaker setting is set to large, even when I tell the amp to send +12dB to the Centre speaker the twin 8" Drivers just look at me without any movement. Normally I would've suspected if the Output Amplifier for the Centre Channel had gone wrong, then no sound would be emitted. Not an expert with amplifier problems however.

Just done a hard reset of my Amplifier all settings back to default, all data/settings wipped off. Still the same problem with the Centre channel. Unfortunately I think the Power Amplifier section for the Centre has gone faulty. Boooooo!!

As it seems that the Centre channel on the Denon is most likely knackered!! I was wondering what I will do for 3 weeks after xMas whilst it gets repaired.

How can I output video to my TV? Is it possible to connect 2 HDMI cables up to make them into one? I dont mind changing these around everytime I wanted to change the source as a temp measure.

(I have only 1 HDMI going to the TV and 4HDMI inputs at my AV rack)

Any suggestions welcomed. Low budget suggestions as well please :)
