Proac tablets on short partington broadsides - problem!

Hi,

I have the proacs on the partington stands but, correctly set up, the tweeters were aimed at my chest. The stands are too short and I doubt the missus would allow larger stands.

To compensate for this, and to maximise the sound, I have two large pieces of blue-tac underneath the front of the speakers to angle the speakers in the correct direction, to my ears.

My question is this:

a) Is there anything on the market that can replace the blue-tac?

b)  Over long term use, will the angle of the speakers damage the drivers in any way?

Many thanks

I don't think there is any danger for the drivers.

But the dispersion pattern of the speaker may not be the same because of that angle. Maybe performance is compromised this way. Just a guess, though. I don't know really. Maybe you even get a better time alignement this way!

The stands are 64cm high which gives the tweeter a height of 86cm. My ears are at about 115 cm high. The speakers are angled so the front of the speaker 1cm higher than ther rear. Angling them defenitely gives a better sound, to my ears.

(That sounds like a gcse maths question!)

The proacs are weird in that the dispersion appears a lot narrower than other speakers.ÿ

Then it's a narrow angle; it won't damage the drivers, and it should sound OK and solve the problem.

You can use sorbothane pads:

http://www.sorbothane.com/

Or other isolation feet such as the ones found here:
