Hi, I have a pair of Proac studio 200s. They're massive and I need something smaller! but I'd always like to step up in sound... I've seen Ruark crusader 2, Quad 22L2 and a pair of Proac studio 140s for sale, Would any of these represent a step up from the 200s?

I should say the room is 7x5m and they're powered by a NAD 3050 with the Bluos for room correction and streaming. I listen to mostly classical but with some jazz and acoustic thrown in. Thanks!

Speakers are very personal with no 2 people having the same ears, best to go to a dealer and listen to a few to see which suits you.

He could but his list isn't likely to be found in any dealers....
I'd stick with the Proacs but no idea as to whether or not they would be a step up.....
With his amp and room correction thrown in I doubt anyone can say......any correct will affect the speakers output away from the norm, and if you really need it I would suggest you have the wrong speakers in the first place....

Hi Steve, it looks like you admire Proac a lot. So you may look for Studio 140 as you mentioned. But I will look for version Studio 140mk2 which is improved. Or a new Proac DT8 which is easy to drive look stunning and price is still very good. Quad 22L2 is not in the league od those hi quality Proac or Ruark speakers. And they do not like loud volumes at all. Ruark here is a legend with probably best build quality, high quality components like their top Dynaudio midrange driver. But sound is I thing better at Proac. Proac is more lively, faster, has better sound projection. It is also reason why many good Proac speakers sound great with tube amplification. So you have something to think about. I am also a big fan of Proac even I do not use them. BR.

To be honest it really didn’t do much other than allow me to dial in my own curve preference. You’re right, there’s no chance of me making a direct comparison of these in real life so I thought I’d ask here to see if anyone has owned any of the options. Thank you.

Perfect thank you. Just the kind of Intel I was hoping for!
