I currently own the Proac Studio 140MK II driven by Mcintosh power and pre/dac amplification .I am considering

an upgrade to the Proac D48r but I don't have the chance to demo it in my country .

Any thoughts ? Is it a serious upgrade to my system ? What do you think about this speakers ?

Personally I have not heard them but they will undoubtably make a big difference to your system as long as your room size is big enough. A speaker of this quality is going to be a big step up over the Studio 140's

I haven't heard the Proac Studio 140MK II, but I have heard the D48r's. They are a wonderfully natural, relaxed and musical sounding loudspeaker. I popped over to Sonata hifi to pick up some cables and ended up staying for the afternoon to listen to them. They had a top end Naim system up 'em from memory. I don't usually like Naim but in combination with the D48r's I had to make an exception.

Proac Studio 140MK II or Proac D48r?

Well they both look like fine options to me. ;)

I am also considering the Tannoy dc10ti and the PSB Imagine t3 both classic 3 way speakers but I suspect although the D48r are only 2.5 way theirs dynamics and agility are better than the Tannoy and PSB which have more soft and smooth presentation thus less suitable to my test.
Am I wrong ?

All the leg pulling and pictures of young ladies aside, if you like your ProAcs you're unlikely to be disappointed by the D48s.
If you're in the US I call first dibs your 140s...

Surely if he buys those D48r's then that young lady is going to need his 140's to prop her elbow on.... ;-)

PS: I think the DC10I look far too laid-back and boring...

Hi ISA,

My system in the living room is proac 148 and superuniti. Its very good and Im also considering an upgrade in the coming year. Proac in bigger size from my many inquieries will give more bass and Ill fall back to boomy in my room cause I tried bigger speakers before. More bass = boomy in my room. Im settled 90% to try the spendor sp2/3r2, I have a second system upstairs with rega and spendor s6e that is maybe less accurate but more musical then proac naim. Im considering going vintage or classic style spendor or harbeth. Sadly proac have no classic style large woofer choice. Its not a macho size matter thing, some songs just dont come alive on modern ultra stiff small sized woofer. Just to let you know. Im even considering going with small harbeth and a sub. Just make sure you dont just go bigger wihtout trying.
