Aftter more problems with my Elcit R sounding off it went back to Rega, they replaced 2 FETS and moved the Transformer - not even sure if they actually listened to the damn thing. If im honest didnt hear any improvement - over the 3 years this is actually my 4th Elicit R and I have finally given up and jumped ship as this is always going to play on my mind.

All my Rega electronics have gone in p/ex ( Elicit R, Aria, DAC ) awaiting delivery of Primare i32 with MM30 media board and r32 Phono Stage.

Listened to to the Primare with the ATC and was literally sat with a big grin - this thing just sounds effortless, timing detail crikey !! The build and feel just miles ahead of Rega.

Will report back at the weekend!

Glad to hear it. Class kit Primare. Had a Pre / power of theirs for many a year, only sold it when a good cheap offer on my Tom Evans gear came along.

Haven't heard this generation of Primare, but three or four years ago they had one of the best sounds at the Bristol show, and as you say, the build looks fantastic. Hope you enjoy!

Hi nopiano

If it was Bristol 2011 then yes the Primare/Monitor Audio GX100 was a top combo

Would love to audition the 32.
Had its inferior little brother, the I22.
Thought it had a wonderful spacious quality and could listen for hours without fatigue. Controlled the bass with an iron grip as well.

I guess when they are chucking out as much stuff as they do then Quality Control becomes a real issue.

No point in harking back to their past class leaders they have to keep up with what's going out the door today, personally I wouldn't touch their stuff anymore.

That Primare Phono preamp is meant to be the nuts by the way.

Please post your findings when you have had time to assess it on the Turntables sub forum. It might be educational. ;-)

Just thought you'd like to know that my wonderful A38.1 suddenly stopped working a couple of years ago. It was repaired by the UK Primare service specialists, Karma AV: 12 new capacitors, internal clean, re-biasing, postage included. All for £100 + VAT and took just over a week!

Jeeze - can't believe the bad luck you've had with Rega. Think lady luck must have immigrated. Hope the Primare is more reliable. I heard the cheaper/older i21 a few years ago. Really good sound.

I thought you still had your valve amp? or has that been confined to your musical CV?
