Hi everyone, I was thinking a lot lately about buying some nice new speakers for myself. I'll probably get some stuff in summer.
I was thinking a possible budget of around €2000 (not sure how that converts to sterling, must be £1800ish) for speakers, subwoofer and AVR. The reason I'm considering a stereo setup is partly for tidiness but mainly because I feel like I could get higher quality in the same budget by sacrificing the rears. I don't have too much experience so can anyone tell me if this is a good idea or not?
In terms of what speakers to get I was sort of looking at the Monitor Audio RX6 floorstanders or the B&W 684s. If there are any similar ones though I wouldn't mind hearing. I think it should really be a pair of floorstanding ones because it's quite a large room and the volume will probably be fairly loud most of the time.
I was kind of considering getting one of the Denon or Sony amps but I'm not sure which would suit. Any help here? I don't think a stereo amp would suit because I want to get my Sky+, games, movies etc through the speakers as opposed to mostly music. I will probably use them for some music though, say 10% against games and movies.
I plan on using a PS3 for my movies, pictures and music. I know it was good enough to get 5 stars in the review, but what's the music like on it?
