Poor DVD Picture and Sound

For the last couple of months the picture and sound on my tv has been getting worse on dvd (incl blue ray). By the way i have Onkyo SR875, Phil;ips LCD 42" PFL7926D and did have Sony 500 DVD. With a QED Hdmi original dvd to amp, Chord silver + amp to tv. Picture is ok on Sky + as direct to tv (not through amp). 2 weeks ago i replaced the DVD for the Sony S760 but the picture and sound is still brilliant even on blue ray. Could it be settings or is my amp faulty or hdmi lead (perhaps damaged?)

Any ideas where to start - Please

Why don't you try connecting the blu-ray player directly to the TV? You can then eliminate as the cause the amp if the picture is still bad. You could then try the cable from the sky+ box to see if one of the other cables is the cause. If the picture is still bad, then blame the TV.

Id guess it must be the amp, if it was the lead it would be sound OR the picture, not both (Unless it was completely knackered)

That said, swop the leads with the skybox to be sure

Thanks gents for the info - problem found it was my wi games console disconnected and unplugged problem seems ok now
