Hi there
Could I cadge a bit of idiotproof advice please? I'm getting a LG 42lN575V TV and would like to buy the Seiwins 6a to go with it. Could you describe in a simple way the cables I'd need , including, if necessary for the Behringer DAC you've referred to elsewhere for pc sound, and what goes where? The TV has an optical input, 3hdmi and 3usbs.
Most grateful

Easy enough. You have audio out on optical so need a dac with an optical input, the Behringer is usb only. There are hundreds of such dacs at pretty much any price you want to pay, the Fiio D3 will do nicely and can be had for about £30.
You will need a standard toslink cable, just work out where things will go and buy the right length. Buy something simple, molded plugs will be fine.
Output from the dac is on phono plugs, but input on the Seiwins is by quarter inch jack, work out the length you need and buy either phono to quarter inch jack, (two pole) or, much easier to find a pair of regular phono-phono leads (mono runs) of the required length and get a couple of phono to jack adaptor plugs. The Seiwin inputs are balanced but using ordinary two pole jacks will unbalance them correctly.
There are three Seiwin models available from Studiospares, the 6a is the biggest and most potent, really needs proper support and placement to be at it's best. The 5a is simply a smaller version (5 inch rather than 6 inch bass driver) with a little less power, still pretty potent. I use the smallest SN4a in a desktop setup, if you are planning to use it on (say) a cabinet either side of the TV, this might be the better option. I use the Audioengine desktop stand, just a little rubber wedge really, but looks nice and decouples the SN4 from the cabinet.
