Plinths and spikes

I just checked my speakers and the plinths and spikes had become a little loose so i got them level and tightened everything up and they sound a lot better, more accurate and less flabby bass, not sure what made me check them but its worth a look if you havent moved them in awhile

I’m sure that’s quite possible. It was often the case that speaker units tended to loosen with age too. These days many are bolted in from behind or the screws are hidden, however.

I think there’s also a psychological influence. I’m sure my gear sounds better once nicely dusted and all the wires neatly aligned!

Haha yes after a good tidy aswell, but when i picked one up every screw and spike was rattle loose

The ones on mine are particularly good as the anti resonance bars screw into the bottoms of the floorstanders with cork spacers then the feet with spikes screw into the bars from the top, such you can adjust them. So it’s double isolation - the cork spacers and the tapped screw holes in the spacer bars. But I defo agree any looseness is going to be far from ideal.

Wish id have thought of putting a cork or plastic washer on now
