I have been searching and waiting for my new CDP for some time and finally considering

Musical Fidelity A5

and

Meridian G06

I mostly listen to chamber music and piano and occational jazz. This means I do not much, mind about Meridian's lack of funkiness. Rather, my major concern is whether Meridian G06 justfies its cost difference over MF A5. If MF is just as good as (if not better than) Meridian. I might chosse MF A5 and say farewell to Meridian.

Please help~

In my (not very) humble opinion, MF A5 (the tube version) sound so sweet that would go down well with your love for chamber music. Having say that Meridian sounded more HiFi and have more slam in the bass department, build qaulity is a lot better than the MF too. Heart say A5 but head say G06....

But if you already have MF A5 amp then look no further as they do design to work together superbly well.

There is an X-Ray cdp in mint cond on ebay at the moment too.

Why not try the G08? I upgraded from the Meridian 508.24 (and changed to G01 and G57 at the same time) and noticed a big difference.
Still trying to decide what speakers to use.....
