Unlike many AV receivers, the Pioneer's have the added advantage of it's X-Curve feature, which allows you to cut the treble to all speakers by up to 3dB. This allows it to be teamed up with bright speakers and be able to tame them easily - this is a feature that can also tame reflective rooms.

Which speakers you choose to go for is entirely up to you, but if it were my money, I'd be looking at Monitor Audio's RX series or KEF's Q series.

I have the Chorus 800 serie and the pioneer lx82 and it sounds fantastic , the sound is open, clean, and punchy across the hole board.

just like Frankharveyhifi have said earlier -pioneer also has the advantage with their X-Curv feature which make them alot easier to pair with differents kind of speakers, if you choose to go with the focal chorus speakers i don,t think u will ever need thise feature.
