whoops...lol....i am a complete newbie(as am sure you realize)

i'm sold on kef's 3005se speakers,but i'm stuck on selecting an amp.was going for onynko 608,but realized its too big for the space we have for it.iv'e been reading about marantz 1601....plz could you guys advise if for one the amp is any good,and if it would be a good match for the kef's?

I had it's predecessor, the NR1501 and was very happy with it. Don't let the 50 wpc put you off it's pretty gutsy. I had it with Monitor Audio speakers though so you might want to test it with the kefs before you buy.

As Richardw states, the 1601 is pretty powerful for a 50 watter, and will drive the 3005's just fine. As an alternative, Pioneer will be bringing out a couple of slimline AV receivers shortly, so watch out for those. The 1601 should be better with music though.
