I've linked my Sky box to my home theater sound system with an optical cable and have problems hearing audio when switching back to Sky. I can't seem to set it right? I've got it connected right, but can't seem to get sound through the system when watching Sky on the TV without having to set the sound system up each time to get it to work.

Pressing the EXT-IN then selct D-IN 2 then CABLE/SAT AUDIO

I can't get it to "Set" and the cable/sat displays "CABLE/SAT AUDIO NOT CONDITIONAL".

I've tried audio interconnects and used the "Aux" input and that works. However the Sky + box has 5.1 sound.

The instructions say that I have to connect the optical audio link to the Digital 2 input.

I'm I doing something wrong?

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong at all. I don't see the point in pressing CABLE/SAT AUDIO at the end. Does the Panasonic not allow you to assign the D-IN2 input to CABLE/SAT, so that you only have to press CABLE/SAT and it should go straight there? If not, then the 3 button presses are what will be required. If I get time, I'll have a look at the online manual. One work-around, albeit one that involves some outlay would be a programmable remote such as the Logitech Harmony range. You could program a 'WATCH SKY' activity whereby it will select the correct inputs by sending the sequence of commands for you. They really do simplify AV setups and I can highly recommend the ONE model. They start at £45 or so for the 525 model.

Thanks for that.....I've had a look at the manual and it seems that you also need a HDMI connection from the Sky box to the TV. My Sky box does not have the HDMI output, it's s scart!!!

That might be the problem.

Yes, I think the 'SET' function only works when setting up HDMI control. What happens if you simply connect it straight to the OPT1 input i.e. the one assigned for TV?
