It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong at all. I don't see the point in pressing CABLE/SAT AUDIO at the end. Does the Panasonic not allow you to assign the D-IN2 input to CABLE/SAT, so that you only have to press CABLE/SAT and it should go straight there? If not, then the 3 button presses are what will be required. If I get time, I'll have a look at the online manual. One work-around, albeit one that involves some outlay would be a programmable remote such as the Logitech Harmony range. You could program a 'WATCH SKY' activity whereby it will select the correct inputs by sending the sequence of commands for you. They really do simplify AV setups and I can highly recommend the ONE model. They start at £45 or so for the 525 model.
