Playing music from a USB stick into a Denon Universal Player - help?

I've tried all other available formats (Blu-ray, DVD-A, SACD, DVD, CD), on my recently purchased Denon 1713 UD so I thought I'd give the USB slot a go.

Having loaded it with a variety of hi-rez files the Denon's on screen menu tells me the file format is not recognised. On the USB stick I'd put a mix of FLAC, ALAC, ALAC-HD, AIFF files. Most weren't even recognised by the Denon, only a 24bit George Harrison LP, but whilst I could read the song titles I was unable to play any of the actual tracks.

Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

Is the George Harrison LP FLAC? The Denon won't recognise ALAC or AIFF but it will support MP3, WMA, AAC, LPSM, FLAC, JPEG, DivX, MPEG, WMV and AVI.

Okay thanks. It's not an integral part of my listening but I'd like to have the option for higher resolution files. I'm using a Mac, so I'll have to try some files that haven't been transcoded for iTunes use.

The George Harrison LP was converted to AIFF, but I've got the original FLAC so I"ll give it a go.

Cheers.

That was painless and straight forward.

All fine now, playing some FLAC files. Hats off to Max app.

Sounding pretty good. I'll have a more attentive listen when the children have gone to bed.
