hi guys , yesterday i tried to turn on my plasma , panasonic th46pz8b , using the remote while the tv was on standby , but it wont turn on , a red light just flashes 7 times intermittently , i could turn it on by manually pressing the standby button on the tv , has anyone else encountered this on a panasonic ?? thanks in advance ...

I have had several panasonic plasmas and they all turn on the same.

I have found that you have to keep the on button on the remote pressed for a short time to get the power light on the tv to flash.
However keep it held down too long and the tv will turn off so would appear to not turn on at all.
No idea why panasonic do it like this surely on is on?

Not sure if this is what you are describing?

My Panasonic 42PX60 has once or twice refused to turn on from the remote.I had to power it off with the main switch, turn it back on, then things worked fine again. As I said this only happened once or twice in the near 3 years I've had it.

I have a similar problem with my panasonic tx-26lxd80, it is very dificult to get it off standby, you have to hold the power button down on the remote for about 5 seconds or more depending on how the tv is feeling! Now I dont bother I just use the main switch on the front of the tv. I think it is quite common with panasonic tv's.

hmmm , i guess its not a serious problem , and the retailer that sold me the tv asked me to monitor the problem , and report to them if it persists , in which case they will send it away and give me a replacement , i guess you cant ask for more than that , for the benefit of any irish viewers they are , d.i.d. electrical ...

Hi, Look I"ve been looking at your problem and may have the answer you require. I have two Panasonic Plasma Sets 37" and 50" Both go into standby using the Red Button top left of the Remote. To come off Standby use the channel Number Buttons to select the Programme you want to watch. This is how it works for me on both sets. Try it yourself let me know if it works for you.
