Dear all,

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have recently encountered a problem with my K2 Kandy amp, basically when i turn the volume knob manually with my hand everything works fine, ie the volume responds, etc.

When using the remote, however, the volume knob doesn't turn and the volume doesn't adjust. Also, i put the volume down all the way (with my hand) and when pressing the button on the remote to increase volume i heard the motor of the volume knob turning, but the knob itself didnt move.

Does anyone know what could be causing this and what would be a solution?

Thanks so much in advance

best regards,

I can't offer you any advice, but I can tell you that mine does everything that you describe with one exception:my remote works the volume control for maybe five or ten minutes and then stops functioning. Annoying. Just letting you know that you're not alone! I just use the volume control manually; I've given up with the remote.

when i owned the kandy K2 i to experienced this problem, after contacting Roksan they told me i could be 1 of 2 things first it could be the volume bar behind the volume knob could be bent or it could be that I'm using cheap zinc AA batteries, apparently remote controls don't work particularly well to cheap AA zinc batteries and you should only use alkaline batteries.

so this is what they suggested first but it actually turned out to be a bent volume spindle which was causing the issue.

my suggestion is to contact your hifi dealer and get them to arrange for it to be returned to Roksan for repair. mine was repaired within less than a week.

Roksan are one of the best hifi manufacturers who i find to be the best in their aftercare a rare thing these days

good luck and i hope it gets sorted as i always thought the kandy k2 amp to be a great amp until i got the caspian m2 (wow)

regards

Yeah I have a feeling it's a remote/IR sensor issue. Mine occasionally goes spaz, I pull out a battery, pop it back in and it works again. I think the brain of the remotes they supply is a little bit inconsistent.

I believe Roksan offer a 5 year warranty.

Not sure that's an option for me, since I bought the amp off E-bay second hand :/

The knob worked perfectly when I got it, and only about a week in did it start to have this issue ...

Right, so i bought some brand new lithium batteries for the remote to test it out...

I pressed the volume button on the remote, the knob turned just slightly, and then froze up again, but while still making the turning noise from the little motor...

Any other ideas? thanks a lot!

If its working'by hand " and you can hear a motor turning but nothinging happing , I'd guess a tiny plastic spindle has stripped its cogs or a belt is slipping , I think you need to send it in for repair , ring them and get a qoute , cant see it costing too much , one hours labour charge and postage.

Ring them first and check if the warrenty is transferable .

Since you hear the motor running while. responding to the remote input, I would guess that the gear on the motor shaft is slipping.

That should be a simple thing to fix if you have a clear understanding where to look and how to get access to that specific area. If not, having that fixed by a professional should not be too costly.

Don't know if you got this fixed - but I had the same problem and took the amp to Roksan and they adjusted the volume knob mechanism. The screws were too tight and the motor struggles with the resistance.

It's been mentioned many times previously, not just above, and seems to be a major design flaw. My remote decides when to work and when not to... It may be a slight inconvenience but as much as I love the sound I certainly won't be buying Roksan again, I expect better.

Problem with the K2 is that front glass plate, which is convex, and the remote sensor behind it only gets a good reception when you pointing your remote fairly straight at it.
