Plasmas won't be "banned", too many stinkin' rich people, including politicians, enjoy them. end of.

At the most our leaders will see another way of sliding in another cynical insidious eco sleath-tax an environmental charge to make us think about what we buy.

I know this issue may forebode what is yet to come, but is this really a big problem? My 32" LCD only uses 170watts when contrast/backlight/volume are set at maximum. Honestly, as long as they don't set it to under 600watts, it won't affect any mass-market televisons. The Pioneer KURO Generation IX only consumes 510watts, and it's a huge television which kicks out plenty of heat!

That said, my Arcam draws far more than that from the plug (nearly 800watts) and my JVC A-X5 draws even more and they're not outlawed.

small silver/black boxes are not as symbolic as big fat tellies.

eco-mentalism, like most religion, works on whats symbolic, not what makes sense. ie they harp on about someone using a "gas-guzzling" 4x4 most of which are diesel of about 2.5-3.0 L to carry a family aound in but hardly ever do you hear about saloon cars with 4-6 litre engines, one man at the wheel and half the mpg. They look simular to other cars you see.

Our Rover P5 will do HALF the mpg of our 3.0 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but if the Rover wasn't tax exempt, it would cost over half LESS than the Jeep to tax! It's sooo silly!

So the papers can say what they like about them as long as plasmas are still ok for use haha
