I was in a Home Theatre shop at the weekend and was informed by the salesman that Pioneer are about to stop their involvement in the TV market to concentrate on their others products groups.

My question: Do you guys know if this is in fact true and if it is, when do you expect this to happen because I imagine it will probably make the cost of their existing TV's go through the roof prior to stopped production. This would be bad as I am saving for one.

I find this a little odd considering Pioneer TV's seem to have dropped in price recently.

Your guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks Andrew. What a shame. Do you think its worth picking one of the 5090 panels up before they end or should I now turn my attention elsewhere? Perhaps a Panasonic?

Wow! This does feel like Groundhog Day! New Panasonics are on the way, but to date we're yet to see enough of them in controlled conditions to form an opinion.

I'd buy the 5090, yes, against the current crop - but who knows how good the new models from the other brands will be this year?
