Evening all... Long time reader, first time poster

I've got a Pioneer SC-LX83 multichannel amp, but everytime I turn it on it keeps defaulting to TV-SAT source for the first 20 secs or so, even if I switch to another source...

Any ideas why that happens? The only source inputs I have are all HDMI (V+ HD, PS3 and my PC).

Thanks in advance!

Yep, mine does it as well since i have had aload of new tvs. With my old philips tv i had it so it would go straight too bd but now i always have to select it when i turn it on.

I am not sure how to get it right either.

Hi,

My 72 starts with the last used.

What do you have your remote control on tv, source or rcv?

That used too work with my old philips tv but now i can't seem to get it too work right.

Gel,

I rarely use the remote for the 72, I have a Harmony 1100 but I did test this when I saw this post.

The only switchable item seems to be Zone1 Zone2 and main, I have this on main.

Just had another look at my remote, i did not even notice that one, i have it at the top that control and yep that is on main.

Don't you have the others in the middle of the remote then? Must of changed the controls or they may be different on the 72 too the 81.

Just had a look a your tv it is quite an old one right? i am guessing 3 years back or so? because that was how old my philips was about 4 years back, i'm thinking these new tvs may behave in a totally different way perhaps over hdmi and signals it is giving (if that makes sense) - might be wrong and down too something else.

I will have a look at the manuel.

This hasn't happened on my LX-83, when I turn it on it is on the last source used? Not sure if there is a setting for this, I'll have to look

Just one thought, are you guys (that are having the issue) switching the amp into standby when not in use, or off completely at the wall?

Just press the receiver button at the top so all the lights go out and clicks off.

When i turn it on, a message on the tv comes up saying audio system active.

When i turn it off it says tv speakers active.

I have the same issue with my new Pioneer VSX-920. Using a Sony BDP-S370 blu ray player and a Sony 40EX400 LCD.

All connected using Audioquest Forest HDMI cables.

It's interesting that I'm not the only one! My VX 919 defaults to Sat TV whenever I switch to BluRay (LX 08). The TV is a Kuro 6090, but I am not using Kuro link - I have a Harmony remote and assumed that the fault was there. Obviously not if so many others have the same problem using different outfits.

I've given up trying to reprogramme the Harmony and I have been switching to BluRay manually. Lazy, I know, but I have to go to the BluRay player to put a disc in anyway so it's no hardship.

Still it is a puzzle - does anyone know why these receivers do this?

So they are abit different i always thought they would have been the same.

Can you control your blu ray player then with your amp remote? Because the control seems to be the one missing on your one?

That one in the middle of the 82 the tv,source, receiver?

Cheers.

When i have set it too bd the amp when the amp is on and have my blu ray player on, the minute i turn off my blu ray player it defaults back to tv-sat again. That is abit strange isn't it?

so it can be done on yours but it is not as easy.

I don't the why it is doing this with the defaulting, i think i am going to have to sit down with my manuels for the amp and blu ray player and see what i can see. I have already flicked through them but nothing was popping out.

It must be something over the hdmi, don't you think?

Tried reading the manuels but did not see anything relevant, how annoying.
