Can these Pioneers upscale the digital 576i-signal from Toppy 5100PVR (e.g. if connected with HDMI cable) to 1080p?

Is it Faroudja in Pioneers? Cinema, like in Onkyo's (807, 1007)?

Clare, Andrew, anyone?

Is there any Pio-owners??

Did you try this when testing 82, Clare?

The pioneer vsx-lx70 amp had inbuilt upscaling, with the pioneer sc-lx81 they cut the upscaling part out, now I am not sure with the 82.

I think that is all correct.

On the spec sheet for the 82 it says it has got upscaling to 1080p,

Yep, there is an upscaling, but also for digital inputs? Or is it just for analog (mainly component) inputs?

Own a SC LX-72 and when playing a DVD through my LX-71 BDP my plasma shows a 576i input, so there is no upscaling from a HDMI connection. I use the upsaling in my blu-ray player with DVD's. Same with Sky HD when you set sky box output to 576i via HDMI. It does upscale from component ect... as i have tried with Sky hd box (comparing component vs hdmi)
