Pioneer pdp 428xd

Pioneer have recently brought out the 50 inch in Full HD. Any ideas if or when they are bringing out the 42inch in Full HD?

If it is going to be called the PDP-LX42D, then I've no idea.

I can't see why they'd need to. At 42inches 1366 x 768 is masses of resolution and you just wouldn't need Full HD.

Full HD is only really beneficial at 50 inches and over and is best on projectors. Even at 50 inches, the 508XD looked as good to my eyes as the new LX508.

I'd buy the 428XD with utter confidence if it were me. But then, I bought a 50inch and I'm not looking back!

Yes, at 42 inches the difference would be negligable. In fact it the 60"(PDP-LX608D) that Pioneer have brought out to accompany to the 50". A mere £5000!!

Thanks for the advice. What are Plasmas like for longevity, Do they need regular servicing etc or are they as easy to run as an LCD?

According to what I can find Pioneer will not be releasing a full HD 42 inch panel. They do not think that the resolution supports the TV size and I have to agree, although it depends how close you are planning to sit to your screen!
