Pioneer n50a settings

Slightly confused about setting up the n50a, I have read the book it came with, however it fails to make a few things clear, I am mainly playing my cd collection which I have encoded to alac, and flac which are on a usb hdd plugged into the rear of the unit. My first question is, in settings should digital out be on or off its default setting is on, I am looking to achieve the best settings for the best sound without too much tinkering.....

Digital in= the usb disc
Digital out= for when you use another device, a dac, to do the digital to analogue decoding. You haven't said so, but I can pretty much guess from your question that you don't have such a setup.

I don't think it affects sound leaving it on.

Thanks, I appreciate the input, the reading material for the unit doesn’t really say too much about the digital out settings, I kind of guessed what you said, however its nice to have a second opinion, and stops me trying to discern the difference, if any with it on or off, my findings were unfruitful at best.
