Became the proud owner of a Pioneer LX53 receiver yesterday. As much as i'm loving my system, i still have a bit of money (and a credit card) left and a week when i don't have to be in the office. So i think the Q Acoustics (2020 fronts, 2000 centre, 2010 rears) and Wharfedale (SW150) may be up for replacement.

Any advice please?

Probably looking to replace fronts, centre and sub at the moment and will get the matching surrounds later on.

Seems like B&W 685 Theatre are the favorites across the web. But any other ideas? Would the B&Ws go well with the Pioneer?

Could do with separate subwoofer advice too maybe. Looking for tight, well-defined bass, not to be shaken off my sofa.

(Am auditioning for sure, will try and get a home demo, but advice is still important to me, especially if i can't demo with my exact kit / in my house).

Thanks in advance.

The B&W 685 won a group test with a Pioneer in the mag, also the B&W 25 and 30 would be great matches too.

I should add to the original post. Stereo performance from the fronts is (at least) as important as movie performance with the package as a whole.

And (because of the above, i suppose) looking for regular / "full size" standmounts at the front.

Thanks Gel / thegelman.

Would you advise the PV1 over the sub in the 685 package?

No probs - i have heard Professorhat say it is a good idea from memory (i think)

, i am pretty sure he said he would like too and he has the B&W 685. I would definitely recommend the PV1 but i have not heard it with the 685. It should be a great idea, might just want to check with some people first though.

It looks like we've got similar system. I use the B&W MT-1's all round and after auditioning the MT30 setup with the PV-1, I was advised to try Monitor Audio's RXW-12 sub with the speakers. I was blown away by the improvement. The RXW-12 is basically the same sub as the one used in Monitor Audio's Apex setup. Just a slightly different box. So I went for that setup and have been very happy with it. Saved a bit of cash as well with the RXW-12 over the PV-1.
