Time to sell my pioneer and maybe get a new tv, love the pic quality not seen anything better but would like a 3dtv that's also good for gaming.

Any ideas ?

Agreed. Unless there's something wrong with your Kuro, or you want a notably bigger screen, I see little value in "upgrading."

You'd be entering the panel lottery by buying another plasma TV. You don't need to look far on this forum to get an idea of the problems owners have experienced with the last few generations of plasma television.

As a VT65 owner, who has seen a calibrated KRP and ZT65 side-by-side, the difference in picture quality is marginal; and the Pioneer still bests the last generation Panasonics for black level.

The 3D argument is little reason to spend such a large amount on a new TV. There's little 3D content worth watching and no immediate future in 3D broadcasting. (And probably no long term future.)

Smart features aren't worth the price of a new TV, either, since a £50 Samsung or Sony Blu-ray player offers wider internet support than a Panasonic television.

So there.

Couldn't have put it better.

All right then.

@ OP

Go for the latest flavour of the month, and sell your out of date Kuro to BBB.

Sell? Sell? The word you're looking for is give.

Or exchange for a GT50 (once it's returned from being repaired).

Ok judging by the comments I'm making a mistake, looks like she's staying.

Does anyone use one for gaming ? If so any settings you recommend?

OP, I agree with everyone who doesn't have an ulterior motive (BigBernardBresslaw, I'm looking at you). In fact, in another thread on this forum, BBB has said that every single day he regrets his decision to sell his perfectly working Pioneer in order to buy what turned out to be the first of several troublesome Panasonic plasmas. The last reliable year of Panasonic plasmas was 2011; since then, they have been quite variable in reliability - some have been perfect, some have been horrendous.

I couldn't have put it better myself that what StrappedForCash said in post number 5 of this thread. Don't change unless you want a noticeably bigger screen, and I mean at least 60 inches. I'm lucky in that I have 8th-generation and 9th generation Pioneer TVs, and even if I were to win the lottery, neither of them are going anywhere. If you really want 3D (why??) and to game, there are lots of fairly cheap LCD televisions that would allow you to do that. And if you do buy one of the last Panasonic plasmas, many people report problems after long session of gaming on the last two generations of Panasonic plasmas. If you want a HD tuner, buy a fairly cheap (less than £200) Freeview HD or Freesat HD box. Don't sell your wonderful Pioneer KRP500A for what, to me and most on here, seem to be invalid reasons. But hey, it's your decision. And if you insist on ditching it, please give first refusal to BigBernardBresslaw! :)

I use it for gaming (although haven't played for a couple of months now). I've aso played for up to 7 hours at stretch. I did not change any settings as compared to normal viewing.

Oh, nearly forgot. Stephen Withers, who calibrated all my four televisions, said that my Pioneer LX5090 was the best of them, and that it still holds its own against what has now turned out to be the last generation of Panasonic plasmas. And your 500A is possibly slightly better than my LX5090. Keep it!

I'd stick with you current tv, after all the problems I've had with my gt50 if it ain't broke don't replace it, unless your going for a much much bigger screen. In which case i agree with bbb, can I have your pioneer please :)

I took my Kuro down for three weeks as I was having the living room painted and a new carpet...

Having got it back, it made me really appreciate just how good it is. Keep the Kuro.

I dont regret selling my LX5090 for one second.

Yes I had an issue with my 65Vt65 - but its been fixed.

Is the 65VT65 better than my LX5090 - its Significantly better and its much much bigger!!

My Kuro was a Great TV, I loved it to bits - however there is no denying the newer panasnonics have a much clearer and cleaner image - with better motion. If you like a 3D Look then IFC does some amazing things to the picture which some people really love - not really for me.

Plus you get 3D which is ok uncalibrated - but Really Mustard once calibrated.

I personally would not buy anything from Samsung - everything I have owned from Samsung since their early mobiles has had big issues down the line, I personally have no confidence in their kit.

The ZT65 - will see one Weds Night as my dad has just bought one is worthy of considering as is the 65VT as a successor to your KRP.

You may get problems - but you will have 5/7 year warranty. You may get problems with the KRP in the future as well - no way of knowing things like that...

Or wait it out until OLED is affordable at a big size - OLED seems to be one to consider given the speed of the pixels / black levels

Though that warranty is of little use if Panasonic treats its customers with disdain and classifies most problems as "within specification."

You don't have to look far on this and other forums to find countless examples of frustrated owners stuck with problem TVs.

I have no agenda here; that's simply how it's been for a fair number of Panasonic plasma owners. (Other manufacturers may treat customers in exactly the same way.)

I still maintain that, if you've got a TV that works properly, be very thankful and hang on to it. The current television market really is a lottery; and your odds of winning aren't particularly high.

I bought the 46" set! here is 40W905A review by home cinema http://www.homecinemachoice.com/news/article/sony-kdl-40w905a-review/15993 In their own words quote " In many ways Sony's W9 is an LED TV that could actually win the hearts of die hard plasma lovers "

I'm not trying to get you to buy the W9 just giving you a option  You took the time to write this thread as in your mind you wanted a new set, and many people advise you to keep your current TV, i just think its good to have options
