Pioneer BDP320 problem

hi all

encountered a strange problem with the above player the other day. when i tried to play Family Guy Season 2 Disc 2 just before it gets to the menu screen a message comes up ("cannot play this format") and the menu wont load. disc 1 plays perfectly.

added the lastest firmware last night but still no joy. the disc played on my old dvd player and xbox 360 and is a standard PAL DVD video disc (and this is even displayed on the Pioneer's display)

can anyone suggest any solutions? where do you think the problem lies?

Not really sorry! I think everyone's first suggestion would be updating the firmware, but you've already done that. And as you say it plays on a dvd player and xbox, so presumably not physically damaged.

Was going to ask if it is a region 1 dvd, but you can play disc one so that can't have anything to do with it.

I've heard that some players have had problems with some discs in the past, but whether things have moved on from there or this is one of those discs, I don't know.

Could be just one of those things. I remember with my old Denon DVD-A1 player (a ridiculously expensive DVD player in its day) there were quite a few discs which just wouldn't play. Yet if I tried them in my £50 Toshiba DVD player, they played with no issue. Now that ground my gears!!
