I know this sounds an odd question but I already have the 740C and am considering adding the LX91. I'm happy to keep both but dispensing with the 740C would help the back pocket and save some space - if - and only if, the LX91 compares with CD playback. The two players share the same Wolfson DAC's running in dual differential mode. The only difference I can see is that the LX91 doesn't upsample - the 740C does.

Has anyone heard both players and can comment?

if you are getting the pioneer anyway, just test them yourself?

I've not heard the Pioneer but if I'm wrong - I will stop posting. The 740c will be the clear winner.
