I was checking to see if I could add a turntable to my Denon AVR-X2300W and have found I will need to get a phono box to add to the amp.

Can anyone recommend a suitable phono stage for my amp I was looking on RS website and saw a Project Phonobox MM @ £60 I was thinking of adding a turntable in the region of £150 - £250 approx.

If you don't yet have the turntable you can either choose a modest phono stage, like the one you suggest, or buy a turntable with it built in. The latter option has appeared with the resurgence of interest in LPs, and RS sell several. The Audio Technica atlp120 has been well reviewed and includes a phono stage - bang on budget at £239!

If you want a more minimal look the Project Esential 2 or 3 are also well regarded. The more you spend, the better the results, though ultimately your AV amp isn't ideal for stereo music.

Never thought of that as I don't know much about turntables at all - if I get a TT with a phono stage built in it effectively saves me £60 and the model you suggest would be within my budget.

I have been told in other forums that an AV amp is not the best for music but it is a compromise of space and budget - some people have a stereo amp and an AV amp connected to the same speakers - maybe someday!

Agreed on not ideal but think you might be surprised how good it is with stereo music. When prepping for some changes recently, I was able to switch fairly quickly from CXA to Denon playing same source - flac from NAS.

I was going to suggest the Reloop Turn 3, better deck but unfortunately about £350
