Sonos need to step their software game up. I have to use Plex because their hardware doesn't have enough memory to index my collection and the Controller app is very dated. For example, to get to another album by the artist you're listening to it takes several steps, going through the menus. With Spotify you just click on one link. No gesture control either.
Spotify has its problems too but that's because they purposefully don't design it for the user - they design it to get the most interaction/revenue, hence the inability to customise the layout - but it's still lightyears ahead.
The same can be said for most video streaming interfaces - all these choices now and they're always worse than Netflix. Even multi-billion-dollar Disney+ isn't great. And as you mentioned in the article, it was buggy as hell on the PS4 for the first few months of its life.
