Quick one here..

I have new asus Eee PC, but havent got an external dvd/cd drive yet for it.

Sorting out my itunes, and done all music that was in mp3 format, stored to external hardrive.

Is it possible to get my old laptop, put a cd disk in it, somehow (extract) the tracks, and copy and paste them onto my spare hardrive, to transfer over to my new pc, ive never had to do summat like this before so have no idea of the easiest method...

cheers dave

Yes

I dont know what format you have your music in now but, its very easy. For example

If you have windows media player installed.

Plug in the external HDD and wait for windows to find it.

Open WMP and navigate thru menus < tools / options / rip music>

Change the details of the directory from " My Music" to the directory on your external drive.

Change the format you want the CD ripped to.

Insert CD and copy.

I have found that the information retrieval service to be a bit pants with WMP and use dBpoweamp to do mine. This programme will also give you the option to rip to a wider variety of formats. (avail in basic form free from internet)

Once you have ripped the Cds, connect HDD back to netbook and update the itunes library

no im not using laptop anymore, will just be spare. i was going to use itunes, but would there not be some conflict between itunes on each computer?

i was hoping that wmp will just extract data and store it as box standard mp3...

My itunes setup was a bit messy so ive started all over again. And ive got a new pc with no plug in cd drive at the moment.

So got itunes on new pc, with my music ( in folders, mp3 formats), on an external hardrive.

So ive imported all the folders into i tunes.

At the min my itunes lib file is stored on my hardrive aswell. in a seperate folder.

so...

I want to get the tracks off all my cds in my living room, and i mean hundreds, put them into my laptop, get the tracks, put them in a folder, name folder, and get onto my hardrive.

So i can plug into new pc and import folders..
