Hi. I have a Marantz NA7004 but I wish to avoid connecting it to the internet or my pc at this time. I know I am missing a great deal of what the device was created to accomplish, but there is only one internet provider in my area and their Wireless Access Point on the tower nearby has been breached and no longer protected. I have informed the provider and but they dont seem to care, but it is riddled with issue to say the least so I cancelled the service. I dont want to use my cell phone for obvious data limits and expenses, but this is not a big deal anyway since all my music is ripped to FLAC. I just decommisoned my Logitec Duet, installed a new Hard Drive on my PC and fresh install of Windows OS. I have all my FLAC files on multiple USB devices but I am looking for your expertise on the best way to connect the Marantz to my FLAC file collection without being connected to a router and internet. This was NOT my plan when I purchased the item, but for the short term I wish to keep it off the internet and off my PC if possible given all the issues from my previous ISP. Any suggestions for the best method/device to use as an External Device of my FLAC files (170gb) for the short term is greatly appreciated. Thanks

You could use something like this to connect three USB drives to Ethernet, and then connect an Ethernet cable to the Marantz in the usual way. You'll probably need either an Ethernet switch between them or at least a 'crossover' Ethernet cable to connect the two.

Very nice! I did not know that device existed. I have a switch as well as cross over cables. I did not read anything about configuration of static IP or DHCP, but I figure it is provided with the documentation/cd. Thank you.

If everything is already connected via a router, just go into the router settings and disable the internet connection.

If you only want to disable connection to the internet of certain items connected to your router, then you should find this option is also available in your router settings. (Most routers are fairly flexible in this regard, even if their designed just for home use)

Hope this helps

Bill
