I have just installed a pair of Maudaunt Short AW152 in wall speakers in my kitchen which are connected to the "B" channel on my Technics SU-A800D power amp. The sound from the new speakers is very clear but I think they need a tad more bottom end. Can I connect an Eltax Fusion 6.5" passive sub to "grab a little bottom" using the same speaker channel or will I blow something up? I have very limited space so I have been considering placing this sub on top of my kitchen cabinets. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you've already got 2 sets of speakers connected I wouldn't do it. It could overload the amplifier.

I'm inclined to say don't do it.

Firstly, the MS in wall speakers have a frequency response from 45Hz. I'm assuming that's -3dB and using wall reinforcement. The Eltax sub has a response from 55Hz. Your current speakers go as deep and maybe deeper than the Eltax sub.

Secondly, you'll need to check out what controls are offered on the Eltax, but you may have problems integrating it's sound with your main speakers.

Thirdly, the question of impedance matching springs to mind. Your MS speakers have a 4-8ohm impedance and the Eltax are also 4-8 ohm. Running the 2 pairs together may present a slightly difficult load for your power amp. You'll be fine so long as you don't crank the volume.

I suspect the Eltax won't sound too good anyway. It's a £25 sub on EBay from a seller who specialises in trying to market junk as serious hifi. Good stuff doesn't come that cheap.

I'd suggest hanging on for a 2nd hand Velodyne Mini Vee or something similar. It will cost more than £25 though.
