Passive subwoofer in Home Cinema Systems

I am looking for a new receiver to connect to my Pioneer BD LX52. I am perfectly happy with the current speakers (5.1 from Denon, passive subwoofer). Although I see lots of offerings of 7.1 receivers, none of them facilitates a passive subwoofer. Is there an alternative solution? As said, I am not interested in buying another sub. Has anyone faced the same problem and found a solution?

The only solution is to buy an external mono power amp to drive the subwoofer. You could try connecting the sub in parallel with your front left/right main speakers, but that could well present the amplifier with a load it would struggle to drive.
