After much deliberation, I have decsided to purchase the Panasonic Viera TX32LXD70, mostly based on advice from this forum and my local dealer who also sales the 32 inch 'D' series sony and prefers the Panasonic. I have the following questions :-

1/ What DVD player should I buy. The sound will be going through my Pre-Power Naim system. Budget £500 to £1,000 and I,m looking for something musical as I play a lot of rock concert DVD,s

2/ How should I link the DVD player and my Virgin plus box to the TV, and get the sound out to my Pre-Amp

3/ What make of cables do you recommend to link DVD and Virgin plus box to TV

If you want one that sounds musical, I'd go for the Marantz DV7001 (£600)

Connect both via HDMI.

Either the QED HDMI-P (£50) or the Award-winning Chord Company Silver Plus 1.3 (£83).

Andy,

Thanks for the reply. I,ve listened to the Naim DVD 5 which was musicialy much better then my old Naim CD3.5, but at £ 2,500 and only SD, I thought was a bit rich. How does the Marantz compare ? or should I be looking closer to the £1k mark ?
