Hi,

I ordered a Panasonic TX-P42S10B 42" TV from an on-line retailer and they have delivered a TX-L42S10B. I am assuming the difference is LCD instead of Plasma but apart from that I am a bit of a technophobe.

Should I stick with the LCD ? I only ordered the plasma one because it had some good reviews. Any opinions really appreciated, I know I can send it back but I am itching to open the box today and I need some good advice.

Depends on your viewing preferences. If it includes more then 10-15% of daytime viewing then stick to this one. Would not regret it during World Cup. If you watch mainly during evenings, then plasma may give you better contrast and blacks. But sharp they are not.

I would send the LCD back, this was a very low end LCD from Panasonic and was their 1st 42" LCD too, it's only 50Hz where as the Plasma is 400Hz sub field drive but the main thing is the picture, it's nowhere near as good as the Plasma version and not as good as the smaller LCD tv's Panasonic make, hence why the 42" LCD got discontinued last year very early and we only ever sold one at out branch as we did have both the 42" S10 in LCD and Plasma sitting next to each other and customers preferred the picture on the Plasma.
