Hi guys this is my first post and after a long time reading everyones opinions i decided to opt for the TH37PX80. I'm getting a price match from John Lewis and was hoping i could pick it up myself. My question is can the tv be laid flat in my car or does it need to be kept upright? Someone said that they got the tv in the back of their VW Golf MK4 which is pretty similar to my Ford Focus. Any help would be much appreciated.

if your travelling for less than an hour its fine, if its more than an hour and you cant help keeping it upright, then simply leave it upright at home for a good hour or two :)

It did indeed fit upright on the back seats of my golf. However the critical thing is whether it will fit through the back doors. There was plenty of room between the top of the box and the roof when it was sitting on the rear seats but it only went through the door with about an inch to spare. Assuming that somebody at JL will help you load it, you should consider not taking a passenger with you when you go to collect. I wound the front passenger seat back to almost horizontal and used it to hold the box securely in place during the trip.

My biggest problem now is what to do with the box. I don't want to destroy it yet in case I need it again, but it is too big to go through the loft hatch.

Why don`t you flat pack the box and fold it to fit in the loft or slide it under your bed / behind your sofa etc?

I got the TH42PX80 in the back of my mk3 Mondeo, so the 37 should fit in the focus. I lifted up the rear seats to create a bit more head room. Make sure the front seats are all the way forward when you try and slide it through. Once the box is in, put the passenger seat all the way back and lean the seat back so that it holds the box upright.

'Unpick' the staples or whatever holding the box together and fold it up so it will go through the 'ole, but keep the bottom tray intact and keep all the internal packaging. That way you can reconstruct the box with some gaffer tape when required, and all should be fine.

You don't even have to do all that Andrew.... If you take out the white plastic handles (they unclip and pull out) the bottom of the box should drop out, which in turn will enable you to "flat pack" the main part of the box. thats how I got the box to my 42in through a 2.5ft x 2.5ft loft hatch!! EDIT: The white handles and bottom of the box can be reconstructed to be used again, while maintaining the integrity of the box i.e. by not removing staples and bodging with gaffer tape (no offence intended Andrew)

Why keep the box? surely if you ever needed to move it say when moving house the removal company would supply suitible casing for it? I know mine did as they had a special bag/flightcase for transporting Plasmas. And dont forget to recycle the cardboard!!!
