Hi could someone please tell me what would be the better tv to get out off panasonic th-42pz85b or sony KDL40W4000 as i am having trouble.

Only way to tell is to demo both tv's yourself and see what suits you best. Make sure that whatever tv you test is properly calibrated and view both SD and HD content.
I have the 42PZ85 and I think it's a very good tv, good with SD content, upscaled dvd's through PS3 look fantastic and Bluerays take your breath away. Even the sound is pretty decent by flat screen standards. Especially the BBE VIVA 3d virtual surround mode. Very good with fast motion and very natural colour reproduction, good black levels as well. Even the remote is decent, simple well laid out controls.
I havn't seen the Sony with my own eyes although the team rate it very highly. Like I say you need to view a few tv's and see what you like the best. Some prefer LCD's and some prefer Plasma only you can decide whats best.

Hi, I'm having the same trouble! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to compare the 2 sets side by side as yet, but I have seen them both individually. The Sony looked awsome displaying a blu-ray CGI animation but have not been able to compare the same on the Panasonic. The Panasonic was displaying normal SD images and still looked very good. I haven't yet seen SD image on Sony as the shop did not have an aerial connection !!!
I've litterally just got back from a Sony Centre who have a pretty good deal on at the moment. The Sony KDL40W4000 for £1099 with a 5 year warranty and interest free for a year plus a 40gb Playstation 3 for free. This deal may swing it for me to choose the Sony.
From the reviews on what hifi they do seem to rate both highly!

I was looking to buy the Pana TH-42 PZ81 or KDL40W4000. I still dont know which one to buy even after 4 weeks online reading reviews.
Wanted to watch football on it and normal TV with an eventual upgrade to SKY HD.
Pana has 100hz and apparently better for watching moving images but on here the review for the Sony (that is only 50hz) has a great review and have performed better than many TV's that have 100hz.
I am so lost now I really dont know what to do. The PS3 may swing it for me too but i really want the best picture for footy and SKY HD!
