Hi there,

was wondering if someone could answer a couple of questions on this tv, which i have to say i am looking forward to getting after all the great reviews i've read. Are the HDMI sockets on this tv v1.2 or v1.3 and what difference does it make.

I also seem to recall from last years forums a post about the best mode to run this tv in for the first 200 odd hours, i think the post may have been about screen burn but please correct me if i'm wrong. I guess what i'm asking is there an optimum mode to run it in when it's first installed although i do know about the thx optimizer, i think professorhat may have had some input on this. ?

Could someone please help.

thanks

Pretty sure they are 1.2 spec, the difference is something to do with colour improved colours but the px range has superb colours anyway. Not everyone agrees that 'running in' plasmas is necessary but if you want to be on the safe side using cinema mode should be ok for first 200 hours, don't display static images for more than a few minutes and leave the games console alone. Personally I turned everything down to 1/3 settings for two hundred hours and used a snow channel whilst I wasn't watching to wipe the screen. I have no problems with screen burn or image retention whatever I do now.

From the Panasonic website:

"Smooth gradation lends natural expression to images such as sunsets. VIERA brings you the wide colour range of the x.v.Colour standard and the natural colours made possible by the Deep Colour (HDMIT V.1.3) standard through its compliance with the newest video standards. This allows one to enjoy natural images with rich expression."

And yes, I'd use the optimizer if you wish, then run the TV with reduced contrast, etc., for the first couple of hundred hours, as it's in this period that plasmas seem most prone to screen-burn, although this is comparatively rare these days.

Thanks for the replies, i think that's what i had read on one of the post's last year regarding screen burn thats very helpful.

as regard's the hdmi sockets i had also heard today that on this particular tv that they are v1.2, this isn't a problem to me at all, it just seems a bit contradictory on the panasonic website which like you said andrew would appear to be the v1.3 sockets.

thanks again for the help.
