Ever since I have had my 37PX80 I have been troubled by the occasional green fringing/trailing around some horizontal fast moving objects, particularly white objects or those moving against a white background. These are possibly phosphor trails, which apparently some people can see more than others - my girlfriend doesn't seen to notice this trailing effect.

On closer inspection I have noticed that all white objects on the screen have a "border" of faintly green pixels where they join other colours on their right hand edge, and faintly purple pixels where they join on the left. The top and bottom edges do not show either of these effects. The effect appplies both to white objects from a broadcast source and also the TV's own on screen menues. With picture overscan off, if the picture does not entirely fill the screen width then the first vertical column of pixels on the left is purple and the last column on the right is green, These effects are only noticable within about half a metre of the screen and are not visable at any normal viewing distance. However, given that they only appear in the vertical plane and not the horizontal I am beginning to think there might some kind of alignment problem that is contributing to the fringing/trailing issue.

Before I go to the trouble of geting an engineer out, could some of the numerous PX80 owners out there kindly have a very close look at their screens to see if they observe the same effect. Thanks.

Green phosphor trails are a well known trait of plsma, and lots of people have never seen any (including me). Google the problem for a technical explanation

when any two contrasting colours are adjacent you might see an intermediate pixel of a different colour as the TV does it's best to match the actual signal to the physical pixels. You only see it if you get up right close, not sometthing your eye notices at normal viewing distances.

with overscan off you have a line of pixels on either side, which suggests the picture is centrally aligned.

I dont think you have a problem set.
