Pana TH42PZ80 vs Sony KDL-40EX503 - Any views

I have an unusual dilema. I have a 42" Paansonic plasma (TH42PZ80) which is about 2 years old and I'm thinking of replacing it with a new Sony 40" LCD (Sony KDL-40EX503). I'm not worried about losing 2" of screen but Plasma used to have the better pictures and black levels. Any views on which of these two is better?

I would stick with what you have personaly . i have the pana 42pz70 which is now just over 3years old and not one problem with it to date and also still under panas warranty ! ive been thinking of upgrading to a larger 50inch screen but to be honest all i keep reading about are problems with the latest plasmas/lcd such as the panas v series and sonys backlighting issues and the lg image retention etc .

this years models as everyone is hoping for should be better/problem free but who knows !

my friend has the sony 40ex703 edge lit lcd and tbh i think the picture and motion is rubbish compared to our pz panas and i would certainly wouldnt swap for one . i havent seen the 503 so cant comment but it does have a great review but there are lots of owners that have had problems straight out of the box so be warned . i would stick to what you have .
