Pana BD30 - Onkyo 606 - Kef 2005.2 5.1- QED Perf HDMI Connections

Hi, does anyone have any advice for the best sound setup for the above? The 606 is currently set at factory defaults and the HDMI output from the Bluray BD30 is set for PCM. Its my understanding that either can decode up to TrueHD but if set to PCM the onkyo does the work.

Also, the sub has a few options on the back (input/phase etc etc), any ideas what these should be set to?

Cheers

Yes, Linear PCM is the way to go with this combination.

Subwoofer? Use either line input, set the crossover control to LFE if there is such a setting or maximum - its highest value -, and the gain/volume control to a bit short of its highest level. Phase should be set to 0.

Then run the Onkyo's auto set-up and let the Audyssey system sort everything else out.

Not confusing, just a difference of opinion.

You can output bitstream from the player if you wish, as the Prof says, but IMHO you'd do better to decode in the player and output LPCM to the Onkyo.

Sorry, didn't see you were referring specifically to TrueHD. I was thinking of if you need DTS HD MA, in which case, the BD30 can't decode this so you're better off with bitstreaming so the 606 can decode it.
