HI all

A bit of a strange one this, and wondered if anyone seems to have encountered this.

When i listen to my system for 30-40mins i get a dull pain in my right ear ( before you say turn it down it happens at any volume) it seem to happen with what ever hi fi i buy. Normally im able to sort it but it can take some time, In the past its been silly things like doors vibrating on the door frame but it can be as simple as vie had the wires the wrong way round, positive/negative thing.

In the past ive had surround sound systems and this has happened it turned out to be the levels to low or even too hi but this time i cant seem to pin point the problem all the wires are in the right way round. Don't know if any one has any opinions or experiences on this any help would be great.

My other Question is QED original speaker cable directional ( i don't seem to be able too see any arrows) just wondered if this had a bearing on this problem or not?

I also have a sound pressure meter and i have set the speakers accordingly 75db which i have read is about right i think and all the distances have been set and measured with a tape measure.

look forward to your responses

I would say the same. My wife had pain like that, went to the docs and found out all sorts, get checked 🙂

(she's totally OK by the way)

Then you can turn it right up!!

I went to the doctors a few years back and told me there was nothing but but there is deaf no harm in going back again,

But this pain disappears when im away from the system and walking around in the general day. I can even listen to other peoples systems with no pain, thats makes me think that its a problem with my system and not my hearing.

if that makes any sense!

Seems unlikely if it happens to every system you've ever owned.

You could try one thing, listen to the system with your back to it (stay with me here!), that way if there is something in the acoustics of the room causing an issue on the right you should now experience it in your left ear. If it's still in your right it's much more likely to be the ear at fault.

Off to the doctors i go, see if they can see anything.

Thanks peeps

Which side does your OH sit on while you're listening?

hahahahahah left!

But really could do with some feed back of certain things that i may not have tried that could sort this problem, as this dose evtually disappear once i find the problem weather it be a door vibrating, directional cable and the likes or is it that it still wearing in. only had it a round 3 weeks

In regards to the other systems doing it, its normally my fault in regard to conections but at the very worst i ve had to take the speakers back because thay've had faults like the tweeters have been damaged in transit or something and had to be replaced. In the past on some 701 mission the baffle separated slight along the top ( was young and where loud most of the time) and had to get it stuck back but my ear could feel that pressure difference it only happened with extreme bass was output through the speaker but the baffle would vibrate causing a pain in the ear. But that an extreme nomally it something simple that i have missed

But what im saying is when i get this pain it normally something i have done and haven't done right like i say it dosnt happen with anying else tv, headphones, even other surround sound systems nothing just this it strange
