Okay here it goes

I have noticed a number of people with Denon amps and PACE SKY HD boxes including myself are reporting HDMI handshake issues on various forums.

When a PACE SKY HD box is connected through my amp (Denon AVR-2809) each time the channel is changed the signal is dropped after 1 second with purple/green banding appearing for 1 second and then the signal is restored. This happens on all resolution settings on the sky box and both HD and SD channel changes. Connection to a Thomson Sky HD box does not have any HDMI handshake issues and appears only specific to the PACE model. Some people have reported 4/5 seconds loss of signal.

If i connect the SKY box using HDMI directly to the TV (Panasonic PH10) then i have no signal break.

Other people have reported similar issues with direct connection from the PACE HD box to their TV or through other AV receivers.

I have contacted Denon who advise they are aware of the situation and the fact it effects Denon owners with this make of SKY HD box. They have advised that Pace are aware but Denon have not been advised if any fix will be implemented.

I have contacted PACE who advise that they are not aware of the issue and are unable to investigate until Sky log an issues with them.

I will contact Sky as others already have but as my PACE HD box was purchased from a 3rd party i raised with the two maufacturers in question for assistance.

Seems to be very similar to the Pioneer and SKY HD HDMI handshake issues a year or so back.

Has anyone else had a response from SKY or suffering similar issues ?

I wonder if the What HiFI team are also able to replicate this issues also

Thanks

Hello, I am having just this very same issue with my new Pace Sky HD box and the Denon 1909 connected to a Pioneer 5090. See my thread:

I haven't contacted Sky about it yet but it sounds like I will have to in order to resolve this.
