wondering if anyone can help me with a query

as the onkyo 506 is capable of passing through 1080p HD video content, is the new 606 capable of the same? Or is it the case that if my blu ray player plays 1080p will the 606 upscale to 1080i?

Yep - the Onkyo will just pass through the 1080p...

I have a 606 , my blu ray dvd player is connected via HDMI to the Onkyo and this is connected to my tv via HDMI.

When the blu ray DVD is playing a 1080p dvd , the tv receives a 1080p signal as my TV displays the signal it is receiving.

I set the amp to automatic or 1080p, cannot remember off hand which one.

Either way it will just pass through the signal as there is no further processing it can do on a 1080p signal. I think if it's set to 1080p, you'll just get a little error on the display to let you know this and then it will play normally.
