I recently purchased this as an upgrade to my TX-SR606. It truly is a superb amp - very dynamic and refined.

I have one question though regarding the volume level - with the 606, my typical volume level was between 50-60 when watching a movie, but with the 875, even at FULL VOLUME, it does not sound as loud.

Is this normal or is there a problem?

Input trims turned down, maybe? Or one very loud speaker - eg subwoofer - causing all the other speakers to wound right down by the automatic set-up?

Andrew Everard,

Thank you for coming to my rescue.

Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is an 'input trim'? My speakers are all set at 80Hz (including the subwoofer).

Full volume? Good grief. Have you got maximum volume set? Also, can you try source setup/ intellivolume for your DVD/Blu Ray I have mine at +2db

Have you done the microphone based set up?

The 875's menus allow you to adjust the levels of the various inputs, so you don't get a nasty shock if different sources output different signal levels, and you switch between them. But it's more likely that something in your set-up may have caused all the speaker output levels to be set at -10dB or something: have look at the levels in the speaker menu, adjust until the one set at the highest level is at 0dB, and adjust all the others accordingly.

So, for example, if you find your subwoofer output is set to -6dB and all the other speakers to -10dB, wind the sub up to 0dB, and all the others to -4dB.
