This may seem like a very silly question, but I've just had my system installed into a tight space and it won't fit due to not enough allowance of cable bending requirements, so I was wondering if my receiver would function perfectly well if it was positioned on its side?

I used to have a 605 and it used to get really hot so I would say it would overheat causing problems and premature failure.

Can't remember offhand if the 606 has vents in its side panels, but I'd agree with our Roman friend that it would be a bad idea - the receiver's designed to have a cooling airflow from bottom to top, not to mention probably not having the mounting hardware for the internal components designed for the extra strain when it's used on its side.

Many thanks chaps for your swift replies. It does get rather hot so I'm sure you're both right. I'll revert to plan B.

Thanks again
